Healing Starts with you

When Someone You Love Is Struggling, You Need Support Too

Loving someone who struggles with substance use disorders or mental health challenges can be heartbreaking. You may find yourself constantly worrying, trying to help, questioning your decisions, or feeling responsible for someone else's well-being. Over time, it's easy to lose sight of your own needs while carrying the emotional weight of their struggles.

If this sounds familiar, know that you're not alone—and you don't have to navigate it alone.

Finding a Healthier Way Forward

Supporting someone who is recovering from substance use, mental health challenges, or both often brings fear, guilt, grief, frustration, and uncertainty. You may find yourself walking on eggshells, questioning your boundaries, or feeling torn between wanting to help and knowing something has to change.

While you can't control another person's choices or recovery, you can learn healthier ways to care for yourself, respond with intention, and build a life that isn't defined by their struggles.

Healing isn't about giving up on the person you love—it's about making sure you don't lose yourself in the process.

A Different Kind of Support

My work isn't focused on changing the person struggling with substance use or mental health challenges. Instead, it's about helping you better understand your own experiences, patterns, and emotional responses so you can begin healing—regardless of where your loved one is in their journey.

Together, we may work toward:

  • Understanding codependent or caregiving patterns
  • Establishing healthy, sustainable boundaries
  • Reducing guilt, anxiety, and chronic stress
  • Responding with intention rather than reacting from fear or overwhelm
  • Processing grief, anger, and other difficult emotions
  • Rebuilding trust in yourself and your decisions
  • Strengthening your identity beyond the caregiving role
  • Developing practical tools that support your healing, resilience, and well-being

Experience & Perspective

For nearly 10 years, I have worked in the mental health and substance use treatment field, supporting individuals, couples, and families navigating the impact of substance use and mental health challenges on relationships. My experience includes facilitating family sessions and groups with spouses, partners, parents, adult children, and children, helping families better understand these challenges, strengthen communication, and begin healing together.

These experiences have reinforced something I deeply believe:

Healing isn't only for the person experiencing substance use or mental health challenges—it is possible for the entire family system.

Whether your loved one is actively using substances, living with a mental health condition, receiving treatment, in recovery, or not yet ready for change, you deserve support as you navigate your own healing.

What You Can Expect

My approach is collaborative, compassionate, educational, and practical. Together, we'll create a space where you can better understand yourself, develop healthier ways of relating to the people you love, and make decisions that align with your values.

Rather than focusing solely on today's challenges, we'll also explore the deeper beliefs and patterns shaping your responses so you can create meaningful, lasting change.

You Don't Have to Carry This Alone.

You deserve the same compassion and care you so freely give to others.

Taking care of yourself isn't selfish—it's an important part of healing.

If you're ready to prioritize your own well-being while learning healthier ways to support someone you love, I'd be honored to walk alongside you.
